Current role
Paula works as a clinical practice advisor supervising students in the Clinical Psychology Centre, does some teaching and other clinic responsibilities. Paula’s students work with children and families in the clinic, primarily in the areas of behaviour problems, anxiety, eating issues and neuropsychological assessments.
Her teaching will include interviewing skills at Honours level and clinical topics at the practicum level.
Background
Paula has been practising as a Clinical Psychologist for over 30 years. She has worked extensively with infants, children, adolescents, and families/whanau within a hospital setting, across both inpatient and outpatients services. She also worked abroad in an international school, worked in management for a period of time and completed a secondment working in the Technical Advisory Service (TAS) within the youth mental health sector.
Paula has a particular interest and skill set in a variety of parent- child relational strengthening therapeutic models. Taking a systemic view of family systems, she also uses CBT and ACT based therapies.
